Meeting Summary

Greetings to all the nimble fingered SRN members
Our first SRN meeting of the new year will be January 25, 2007, at our new location.

We will meet at PERKINS RESTAURANT, I-25 and Colorado Blvd. It is on the southwest corner and easily accessible. They have a small meeting room at the back with a door for privacy. As our attendance and membership burgeon, we can advance to a larger meeting room.

We will meet at the same time for now, 11AM. You can order anything you want off the menu and pay by individual checks. At 11:45 we will instruct the wait staff to stop serving so we can conduct the meeting with the usual agenda. (Introductions and announcements, opportunity for show 'n tell, speaker.)

Your only fixed expense will be a $5.00 meeting charge payable at the door. We would appreciate reservations handled in the standard manner. If you choose not to eat, you have no other charges. However, I would suggest leaving a token tip for the wait staff (not a requirement, just my "thing" for service people).

Flexibility will be the word of the day. There are several unknowns about the staging of the meeting at this location such as having booths instead of tables and the coordination that presents. If nothing else, good humor and a few laughs will carry the meetings.

By the way, if you haven't been to a meeting in a while, or forever, you can multiply the value of your SRN membership greatly by mingling, rubbing shoulders, swapping stories and referrals with the most supportive group of textile artists in town.

Remember to share your good experiences with other sewing professionals who could enjoy SRN. Bring guests. The more the merrier and the better we serve the thread bare public.

This Months Event

How To Build a Successful Portfolio
At our January meeting professional writer, editor, photographer and scrapbook artist MaryJo Regier will speak about How To Build a Successful Portfolio.

Her key topics will include why artisans need a traditional portfolio, the benefits of having one, key elements of a traditional portfolio, tips for photographing your creations for your portfolio and how a traditional portfolio serves as a foundation for building a digital portfolio.

She will also have a surprise giveaway on hand for attendees from a major product manufacturer. Hope you can attend!

Upcoming Events

CREATIVE FESTIVAL 2007--SRN BOOTH
THE CREATIVE FESTIVAL is in 3 weeks. If you want your "stuff" in the 1200+ bags we will hand out at the Festival, please come to a STUFFING PARTY at Christine Hoyt's house Wednesday, January 17th at 6:30pm. Bring snacks if you want. You pay for your printed materials but there are NO OTHER CHARGES except help stuffing.

The 12th annual Denver Creative Festival will again be held at the Denver Merchandise Mart, Feb 2nd- 4th, 2007 -- Friday & Saturday 10 AM--6 PM, Sunday 10 AM -- 4 PM. An abundance of free parking is available.

Members may pick-up membership rosters at any meeting. New rosters will be printed for the March, July & November 2007 meetings. If you can not attend a meeting, please email Toni at toni_fitzwater@msn.com, and one will be mailed to you.

To avoid being deleted from the membership list, please have your dues paid no later then one month after your membership expiration date.
