Message from the President

Dear fellow SRN members,

The Creative Festival is past, and what a way to start the year! Thanks to those who did show up at the January SRN luncheon meeting, and for all those who assisted at the Creative Festival in a myriad of ways. It was too bad there was that conflict of times; we are assured that next year the Creative Festival dates will be all in February, therefore, we can all do both.

I bet a number of us will be on the lookout, at our coming meeting, for faces of those we spoke to at the Festival. Let's give them a good welcome! New blood is always so interesting and invigorating. Not to slight our long-time members, who have contributed some great new ideas. Here's one: let's have the new SRN officers start their term in March each year; that way if there are any new officers (like yours truly), they don't start off the year with a Large Project, like the Creative Festival. What do you think?!

And here's another one (thanks to your talented, hard-working, and BRILLIANT Board): having decided to increase the annual dues to $65, we then decided to take things one step at a time: from now on, all renewals and new members will pay the new rate; but we will put off the prorating confusion until March 2009. We hope this makes it a little easier to deal with the change.

Another little note: you'll now have additional locations to pick up brochures if you're unable to attend the meeting. Four volunteers will have a stock of brochures in diverse parts of the metro area to enable members (who are unable to make the luncheon) to come by, pick them up, and help distribute them to new locations. The brochures and website are our big advertising (and very successful, from my own experience) and the more we can get out there, the more we all benefit.

I'm coming back from my trip East (to see family - kids, granddaughters, mom, brothers and their wives) a day early JUST to be with you all on February 28 -- so be there!

Looking forward to it,
Marci

This Months Event

You won't want to miss this month's event:

You don't still sew on an old treadle sewing machine, so why not update other parts of your life into the 21st century also. Learn how computers and sewing related software could improve your sewing skills, make sewing faster and easier, and just be fun - all at the same time. Kelly Floyd used to work in the big corporate world with computers, websites and programming, now she is the IT person for AAA Sewing. She teaches many classes, runs the website, is the software teacher, and answers all questions regarding computers (even the question: why won't it run? Check your plug ins!). Kelly will be showing you some sewing software programs that could really boost your income.

Teaser for the March meeting:
Next months speaker will be Terri White, from the Littleton Historical Museum Curators office.

Treasurer Message

Greetings SRN members!

As you probably read in the January newsletter, the SRN board has decided to do TWO things:
* Raise the annual dues to $65.00
** Make everyone's anniversary month the same (due date for annual dues)

*The $65.00 increase is effective immediately and will help us keep going forward as we keep up with technology opportunities to get our names out to the world. The elimination of a meeting fee of $5 per meeting is offset by the annual dues increase to $65 per member. This equates to $5.42/month of awesome advertising and networking. This puts your name on our website and in the brochure that, with your help, goes all over the city AND you get to hang out and network with this great group!!

**The change of due date so that everyone pays their dues the same month is just an administrative time saver for those of us who are doing work behind the scenes. We will implement this in 2009.

We appreciate your cooperation
Betsy DeHaven
SRN Treasurer
