Message from the President

Dear fellow SRN members,

For those who were at the February luncheon: wasn't that a great meeting? Twenty-two of us showed up, including some newcomers as well as some "returnees" not seen for awhile. It was great to share ideas and experiences. And for those who were not at the February meeting: come check us out, and add your input, ideas, stories to what's going on now! I feel like our past President, Christine, is being proven correct already, that moving to TACtile, having more room to be ourselves, is going to give us the impetus toward new and beneficial developments, for the group and for us as individuals.

Our February speaker was Kelly Floyd who teaches at AAA Sewing with our own Tracy. She gave us an overview of the sewing technology available for today's sewing machines, or, as she corrected, "sewing computers." I don't have such a sewing machine, but what's available is very exciting even to me, and Kelly is herself a wonderful resource for this info, and lots more. Also at the meeting we discussed some pricing techniques; and of course caught up with everyone's various doings.

I attended a meeting of the TACtile Textile Arts Center Advisory Board on March 6. There is so much going on there already, guild meetings, classes, and a member sale (then scheduled for the first weekend of May) that is now being moved to a little later, to coincide with other arts events (and share publicity.) Christine and I will meet with TACtile to clarify our relationship with them, so I'll have more to report on that after it happens (early April.) I took some items of my own to display at TACtile; please let me know by email or phone if you have items yourself and would like to have them displayed there, it's for all of us to benefit from! More discussion Thursday, so be there!

This Months Event

This months speaker will be Terri White, from the Littleton Historical Museum Curators office.

Terri is in charge of obtaining all the museum items on loan as well as designing and setting up the various displays. Join us as Terri explains the many facets of her business and pick up hints and tips to successfully displaying your work.

If you are interested in placing a business sized ad in the May brochure, please contact Karen Niemi at karen.niemi@comcast.net or 303 470-9309 by April 1st. Please bring your check for $30 to the March meeting or send it to Karen.

If you are unable to make a meeting to pickup the brochures, you can contact Marci Heiser, Tracy Kreiling, Karen Niemi, or Donna Sproul to make arrangements to pick them up at their homes.

Membership Roster Announcements

Members may pick-up membership rosters and brochures at any meeting. New rosters will be printed for the March, July & November 2008 meetings (subject to change). If you can not attend a meeting and want a roster or brochure, please email Toni at toni_fitzwater@msn.com, and request it and she will mail it to you.

Notice that all Membership Dues are being changed to March 1st each year. To avoid being deleted from the membership list, please have your dues paid no later than one month after your membership expiration date.
