Message from the President

Dear SRN members,

I hope to see as many of you at the March meeting as we had at February's!

We had 22 present plus our speaker, Patrick Arnold of "Above and Beyond". (It is so pleasant, and especially helpful, to have a personal relationship with our sponsors, who support us professionally so well.)

We had two new people present, one a new member, Sandy Wheeler, and a prospective member who heard about us at the Sew Expo! Thanks again for all who worked the Sew Expo, and were so welcoming at our booth.

Business completed at the February meeting:

Kordee Rose volunteered to take over the position of historian. Rosemary Weiler has faithfully been historian for many years, Thank You Rosemary.

Our day-long seminar with Dhyan Atkinson will be held Saturday, April 4 in Westminster, You will all be getting a flyer by email. This class was specially tailored for us seamstresses to get our businesses organized, marketed, and OUT THERE for the world to take advantage of! Sign up asap!

SRN will be hosting the TACtile "Wonderful Wednesday" on April 1. We (SRN members) and anyone else, can come, hang out, chat, and even get some projects done. I always bring handwork, usually for myself (imagine that), and it's a fun way to spend some time between 5 and 8 p.m.

Also, since March is now the renewal date for us all, many annual dues were collected, to go to our new treasurer, Carla Gosney. And some even got their dibbs in for the special ads in the up-coming brochure (to be available at the May meeting.)

Your Board met March 9. We're looking to do some work on updating the website. We worked on the up-coming brochure, and seminar, and talked about some luncheon meetings that might use our own, "in-house" talent and ideas. For instance, a workshop on price-setting; or whatever YOU might be able to share; or how about, what books you'd grab in a pinch? The most important thing we talked about, and got excited about, is getting our brochures placed in as many new venues as possible! A separate email is coming on that, too. The more we get advertised, the more business we have!

See you Thursday, March 26 at TACtile.

Marci Heiser, President

This Months Event

Mark your calendar, so you are sure to attend the March meeting.

We are going to have Bob Juenemann, owner of Make it Sew. Bob is planning to give us an informative presentation.

For 23 years Bob serviced at an average rate of 1,000 units per year. The name of his repair business evolved around 1995 and grew into a retail business in 2000.

Bob has owned his store in Broomfield since 2000, and opened one in Englewood, so he can serve you from both ends of the city. In addition to his 3 lines of machines, and line of furniture, he and his wife, Karen say "Our business philosophy has been heavily education oriented". They go on to say "Karen's decades of sewing coupled with Bob's decades on the sewing machine bench have provided a unique and in depth knowledge base which they not only share with employee's and customers ..."

Be sure not to miss this opportunity.

The Five Essential Skills You Need To Find Clients

SPECIAL ONE-DAY WORKSHOP FOR SEWING PROFESSIONALS:

The Five Essential Skills You Need To Find Clients!

Sat. April 4 - 9:15 am to 4:00 pm - $99 - lunch and materials included

Why would I want to spend $99 and a whole Saturday attending this workshop?

You might not! I can think of a lot of things I would rather do on a Saturday than attend a business skills workshop.

BUT consider attending if:

  • You have noticed a drop in business because of the recession and you are hurting for clients
  • Marketing and sales were NEVER your favorite activities and you would like to make them easier and as effective and painless as possible
  • You have really strong financial goals for 2009 but are unsure how to meet them
  • You have attended other business skills workshops but never one designed specifically for sewing professionals!

    Workshop starts in 20 days!
