Message from the President

Dear SRN Members:

Welcome to the several new members we have. More members are joining us for each month's luncheon meeting at the TACtile Arts Center. Nice to see new faces, as well as catch up on the "news" from people we may have known for many years. Hope to see you at a meeting soon.

We again had a fun speaker in April, Loren Korel, owner and designer of The Heavenly Sewing Chair. taught us a lot about sitting for sewing, and the chairs he designs and sells through local outlets. (My chiropractor would approve, I know!)

Our new brochures will be available at this week's meeting, so be sure to come and pick some up to distribute to our various venues, whether new or old. And tell Pat Kramer where you are taking them, so she can add the names to our list.

The "Wonderful Wednesdays" at TACtile are probably going on a break for the summer. I encourage you who don't make it to the luncheon, to visit TACtile, there is always something fabulously "tactile" to look at and touch. Also, there is a full schedule of classes for the summer, including some for kids being taught by costume folks from DCPA. Look up the schedule and descriptions on the TACtile website. Their free email list gets you the latest news and happenings. For instance, May 30 will be a "knit-in" at Tamarac Square; June 11 the city of Denver will include the arts organizations at Tamarac Square in their Arts Tour. Check it out!

Also, Interweave Press of Loveland is now a member of TACtile. Some of you may be familiar with their books. TACtile would like SRN, and other member guilds to suggest books we would like to see available for sale at TACtile. So let me know, or contact TACtile yourself and make suggestions.

I would like to thank publicly our SRN Board of Directors who have given, or are giving, so much of their time to have SRN continue to operate successfully for the benefit of all of us. In March, Donna Sproul retired as the newsletter editor, and Toni Fitzwater took over. Betsy DeHaven retired as treasurer and new member Carla Gosney took that on. Toni handed the membership responsibilities to LeNore Kerber. Judy Veyera took on the marketing (brochures etc.) job from Karen Niemi, who is staying on the Board for special projects. Tracy Kreiling continues as V.P. in charge of getting our monthly speakers. Susan Matthews continues on the Board and has been negotiating to get us that business seminar from Dhyan Atkinson soon. Ladies, thank you so much for your dedication; without you, it wouldn't happen!

I am looking forward to seeing many of you on Thursday, May 28! Marci Heiser, President of SRN
