Message from the President

Dear SRN members,

We could tell by the reduced attendance that summer is upon us, at the June luncheon. But, ladies, I suggest you take advantage of that to come and get to spend more personal time with fewer members and get acquainted! We had a smattering of long-time members, while others were on vacation, including some of the Board, and some of our newest members who have become "regulars," too. I love their energy and enthusiasm! Thanks -- you know who is the newest! We also had two guests, one of whom joined.

Board member Susan Matthews presented a program she has shown some of us before, and "the crowd went wild!" We bought her out of the "Hourly Rate Calculator," applicable to any business, not just ours, and what a gem. How do we calculate what we should charge (does this question sound familiar? like from almost every meeting?!) and in a sensible and organized way, to help us not feel apologetic (or is it just me?) about what we need to charge to stay in business. Thanks, Susan.

Currently your Board is at work with our talented friend and copywriter, MJ Regier (whom we hope to have come speak to us again sometime soon), on a brochure to solicit new sponsors. I think you'll be pleased!

For those considering being future Board members, the next meeting is Sept. 9. Keep it in mind, check it out, ask questions, I think you'll find it well worth your while, both professionally and socially!

This Months Event

What Works For You???

Business is slow for some people, but not for others. What is your secret? At this meeting we will be sharing with each other tips, tricks, and techniques that have proven successful to generate business in slow times. Come and swap your strategies with other SRN members. Bring note taking paper and your deposit slip, because these ideas will be something you can take to the bank.

Member Showcase

SRN member, Karen Niemi took first place in the small quilts category at the 2008 Annual Firehouse Quilt Show.She won a Janome sewing machine donated from makeitsew.The quilt top was pieced by Patty Bisbee and Karen Niemi custom long-arm quilted it. The quilt called "Town Center" also received a Meritorious Award at the Arapahoe County Quilter's Quilt Show. It can be viewed at the Arapahoe County Fair and Rodeo - Wednesday, July 23 thru Sunday, July 27.

Membership Roster Announcements

Members may pick-up membership rosters and brochures at any meeting. New rosters will be printed for the March, July & November 2008 meetings (subject to change). If you can not attend a meeting and want a roster or brochure, please email Toni at toni_fitzwater@msn.com, and request it and she will mail it to you.

Notice that all Membership Dues are being changed to March 1st each year. To avoid being deleted from the membership list, please have your dues paid no later than one month after your membership expiration date.
