PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I was sorry to miss June's meeting, I hear it was great. The ones that attended were given some great strategies for marketing our sewing businesses.

Always stitching and referring,
Toni Fitzwater

Everyone was geared up for the workshop on July 17, featuring Dhyan Atkinson. A great day spent on getting a shot in the arm for our businesses.

I look forward to a good meeting this month. It is always interesting to hear what others are doing business-wise.

WORKSHOP FEEDBACK FROM ATTENDEES:

Thanx Dhyan! Your seminar today had pages and pages of information made crystal clear to me and just as soon as I finish this sentence, I'm gonna go to the free site and have my web page analyzed for improvements...did I mention FREE? Susan Matthews

Our speaker was top-notch and she did a beautiful job. What a sweetheart. She is so kind and gentle. She also did a fine job of corraling our group of gabbing women in and helped us to stay on task I would recommend her in a heartbeat to give workshops to any group. She made her presentation easy to follow and informational. Kordee Rose of The King Stitchery

It's been said that if you want something done, go to a busy person. No doubt, Dyhan Atkinson is busy and getting busier each day because she has so MUCH valuable and useful information to share with small business owners. Her easy way of communicating to a diverse group is a talent not to be overlooked. I look forward to putting all of her ideas into action to help grow my business. Sharon Ryan, I am Sew Sure.

JULY PROGRAM

In keeping with the theme of making more money, I'll demonstrate Pricing Made Easier by Joyce Murphy, a computerized program that allows an individual to calculate what she needs to charge per hour in order to make a profit, break even or lose money. CDs will be available for purchase and members who already own and use the program will give feedback.

CARLA GOSNEY

We are so sad that our friend and former SRN officer, Carla Gosney, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010 in Littleton, CO. She will be missed. The information is listed for anyone who would like to donate to the Littleton Adventist Hospital Volunteers in Carla's name. Checks payable to Littleton Adventist Hospital Volunteers and can be sent to: Littleton Adventist Hospital Volunteers, Attention: Catherine Bartley-Manager Volunteer Services, 7700 South Broadway, Littleton, CO 80122.

2ND ANNUAL COSTUME BAZAAR

The 2nd annual Costume Bazaar at Guildwerks is now a 3 day event! Saturday, Aug. 7th. Sunday, Aug. 8th & Saturday, Aug. 14th! These 3 days will give vendors the opportunity to hit a large variety of people just weeks prior to departure for Burning Man!

Spaces will be 6' x 4' and cost will be $10 per day that you wish to vend. Vendors should bring their own tables, chairs & hanging racks. We have a limited number of tables available for rent for a $10 per day fee. I will be sending out a link sometime this week, so that you can prepay for and secure your space. You can purchase more than one space if your booth has a larger space need. We pretty much have unlimited space for this event. Booths will be set up in the lounge space, main space, hallway corridors and even outside on the dock walks. If you have a space preference, please let me know when you register. Every merchant will be required to sign a vendor agreement, which I will have ready with the payment link this week. If you can't pay via credit card, you will have to bring or send me cash as I won't be processing checks

Questions, concerns, rants & raves...just email me, Deb Kreek at info@aprilenchanted.com

Also, pass this along to anyone you know that might be interested in vending at this event. We have limited time to get ready for this, so vendor registration at an early date will be important!

URGENT!! TAMARAC SQUARE NEWS

To our most passionate supporting organization Presidents and Liaisons

We were notified on July 13th of surprising news. Despite no final decisions of development, Tamarac Square has decided to close the premises earlier than expected. This was also a surprise to the management staff.

We have been preparing for this eventual circumstance and we are well poised for the move to our next growth stage. The TACtile organization and concept remain strong and well prepared to meet the new challenges. This is a real estate challenge only! Our work together to strengthen fiber arts in our region continues with great passion and strength.

Our intention is to keep you perfectly informed. Our board has an immediate plan in place, with strong resolve to make this a positive step in our development. We have a lot of momentum and the news brings us closer to our long term goals!t all times.

In many ways, we have already outgrown Tamarac. We will always be thankful for the opportunity it provided us to get started. We need your help now to realize the dreams we all have for our new fiber arts home.

I love the idea of lighting a candle for TACtile today. Let's watch its bright light shine!
Respectfully,

Dianne Denholm
And the TACtile Board of Directors

QUILT FEATURED

Quilt Featured in National Quilting Magazine - Long-Arm Quilted by SRN member Karen Niemi

"Circle upon Circle" quilt pieced by Alison Dale, owner of Fabric Expressions and long-arm quilted by SRN member, Karen Niemi is featured in a new quilting magazine called "Antique Quilts - Classic Favorites & Modern Remakes" Volume 1 by Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collection from the editors of American Patchwork & Quilting. The magazine shows an antique quilt and how it was constructed using curve piecing. It then shows the pattern for their quilt using an easier way of constructing it by utilizing an appliquéing technique. This is Alison's first publication in a magazine and Karen's 10th. The quilt can be viewed and the magazine purchased now at Fabric Expressions.
