This Months Event August Presentation Title: DIY Marketing Made Simple by MaryJo Regier, a self- employed, one-woman, marketing pro. MaryJo will be providing an easy blueprint for taking the fear and hesitation out of self- promotion by covering the key aspects of Marketing You, Knowing Your Target Audience, Knowing Your Competition, Building a Brand and using this knowledge and these discoveries to put your most effective foot forward when experimenting with budget-friendly offline (print) and online (Web) marketing efforts to see what works best for you. All interested attendees are encouraged to bring a business card to enter in a drawing for a free marketing- materials critique, valued at $175.

The Five Essential Skills Need To Find Clients! Remember this seminar scheduled for April that was canceled due to a snowstorm? It is now being re-offered on a weekend in September or October. Please email Stephanie Rosenbaum (stephanie- co@hotmail.com) if you would like to take the one-day seminar, and denote a first and second choice of weekend. All responses need to be received by August 28. PRESENTER: Dhyan Atkinson Dhyan is a Business Skills Trainer and Business Consultant/Coach who specializes in working with small business owners. Her company, Satisfaction By Design, has provided consulting and business skills training to small business owners across the United States and Canada for the past 15 years. She designs, constructs and custom fits garments to compliment a persons best features. The special emphasis is on bridal gowns, wedding ensembles, and custom fashions for special occasion. Nora is the director and founder of Sew Fresh Studio, and has offered custom couture dressmaking and design expertise since 1976. Today, she and her professional team coordinate the technical elements of fabric, design, use, and fit for both commercial clothing companies and private individuals. Sew Fresh Studio will design from ideas, photos or drawings. A private wardrobe consultation can also be arranged to formulate ideas for combining new designs with the fashions owned. In addition to custom sewing, classes are also taught in the studio. They teach 3 class levels. Level 1 = Just beginning or coming back to sewing. Level 2 = You have sewn several things on your own and are ready for more skills. Level 3 = You may be returning to sewing knowing many skills but need custom fitting and design techniques. understanding and are ready to learn fitting and finishing techniques. Nora is a very busy seamstress and it is an asset to SRN to have her as a member. Promoting Sewing Skills Our membership is a great source of knowledge. Several of our members are sharing their talents by teaching individually and in businesses. Who better to learn from than our members. Carla Gosney will be teaching the Anita Goodesign Class at Above and Beyond's Aurora location. We will be starting the Pumpkin Crazy Quilt Wall Hanging. The Board of Directors has approved the use/display of the new SRN logo on member sites for more exposure. If you need a Web-ready JPG image of the logo, please e-mail MaryJo Regier at mj@mjregiercopywriter.com with "SRN logo request" in the subject line. If you can't make a meeting and need brochures, please contact one of the SRN Board Members for alternate pick up locations. New rosters will be printed for the July & November 2009 meetings (subject to change). If you can not attend a meeting and want a roster or brochure, please email the request to the membership chair. Brochures will be mail to you, and rosters will be emailed to you in an Excel file.
