Message from the President

Dear SRN members,

Here it is still summer and there is so much news, from SRN and TACtile, getting us ready for fall.

Last month, many were on vacation, we had a good meeting with 16 members present. ProTax talking about forms of business organization especially related to tax issues.

Pat Kramer provided the list of where our brochures are currently placed.

JoAnn's Fabrics is providing a Community bulletin board for placing our brochures, so remember to take brochures and a big push-pin, when you go.

We are also putting together a big map of the metro area to mark where our brochures are being distributed. Thanks to those of you who take the time to place our brochures and get our names OUT THERE.

That's what our organization is about, all of us sharing support.
For our August 27 meeting, be ready for a program from MJ Regier, copywriter and designer. It would be fun if those of us who have had her design our business card, or other materials, bring them for a beautiful display. (I think she did a gorgeous job on my card, you'll see.) We should also have our member roster copies available. Bring your calendars so we can finalize a date for the Saturday business seminar with Dhyan Atkinson, for September or October.
Lots of news from Tactile Arts Center.

Our Wednesday evening meetings will not continue for now. (Do you think a coffee bar/concession would help it be more attractive?)

Check the website for details of all the upcoming events.

  • There is a call for entries for the "Green With Envy" show, September 18 - November 7, which should be tempting for lots of us in SRN.

  • October 3 will be the TACtile fundraiser "Bizarre Bazaar," but this year they will take fabric donations instead of having "booths" that can be rented. Here's the chance to clear out your stash -- and then add to it again.

  • On October 17 there will be a workshop on felting, sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Weavers Guild, they can only take 20 registrations (I'll have flyers at the meeting, I'm interested myself.) The Weavers Guild is also inviting representatives from each of the other TACtile guilds to attend their Dec. 19 holiday meeting (attended by about 100 of their members) to tell about the SRN organization.

  • Soon TACtile will have flyers about the Sandra Betzina event the end of October.

  • Generic TACtile postcards that we can distribute much in the way we do our SRN brochures: one-on-one and in retail or other outlets.

  • September 12 will be an Open House with the teachers of the classes at TACtile for the fall, meet them and register for classes.

  • Window displays are always being sought by TACtile, it is a good opportunity to advertise ourselves, and SRN.

Do go to the TACtile website to see all that's going on that we can participate in.

Hope to see you August 27!

Marci Heiser, SRN President
