Message from the President

Dear SRN members,

Fall is here and many new things are in the wind. It's time to think about new members for your Board of Directors. Several have been serving for a long time and need a break! They are willing to work with/train newcomers. We only meet a few times a year; the year starts in March now, we decided. The positions are President (Marci is willing to continue another year), VP/Program (has been Tracy Kreiling), Membership (has been Toni Fitzwater), Newsletter (has been Donna Sproul, Mercedes is looking at taking it on), Marketing (brochures and such, has been Karen Niemi), and Treasurer (Carla Gosney is willing to start next year.) Let me mention one other factor, did you know that Board members get their annual membership fee paid for the year they serve! Many of us find so much value in our SRN membership that we have been willing to go out of our way to serve on the Board to keep the organization going. ; Think about it for yourself.

Speaking of our brochure, all materials (ads and their payment) will be due for the fall edition SOON. Bring what you need to the meeting or you can mail your check to Betsy asap for ad payments. For any further questions, you can get in touch with Karen Niemi or myself. Depending on the demand, we may need a larger brochure! So we need to know asap.

Also, Pat Kramer has taken on the task of keeping a list of where our brochures/directories are "stocked," so if you take brochures to a given place, let Pat know where. That way we can go ahead and take them to additional places, and know how many to order on this coming edition.

TACtile has several wonderful events coming up (see our announcement, and the TACtile website.) One I am VERY eager for, is the Wonderful Wednesdays. Every Wednesday from 6 - 9 pm at TACtile will be a gathering, just to "hang out," talk shop, and such. Maybe it can be an informal continuation of our monthly meeting! SRN will be the "hostess" for the FIRST Wednesday of each month. Other guild members of TACtile will host the other Wednesdays -- which we are also invited to, of course. This is a great way to get to know each other, other guild members, talk to store drop-ins, or whatever. Fun marketing, huh?! So come one, come all. If we want to have "programs" later, we can decide that, too. But I'd love the chance to get better acquainted with ALL of you, your projects, etc. (I'll be bringing hand work to do.)

Hope to see you all at Tamarac Square this Thursday at 11 am.

Marci Heiser,
President

We are so saddened by the news of Kevin Fristensky, President of the Creative Festival, passing away. He will be greatly missed.
Below please find an excerpt of a letter from his estate regarding the cancelation of the Creative Festival and the upcoming Rusty Barn event:

"Dear Creative Festival Attendees and Newsletter Recipients:
We are sorry to inform you that Kevin Fristensky, President of the Creative Festival, recently passed away. We know this news is saddening for many of you who have been involved with the Creative Festival over its 13- year history, and have come to know and befriend Kevin. He will be greatly missed by all.

In the wake of Kevin's passing, we have received many emails expressing concern regarding the status of the 2009 Creative Festival. We regret to inform you that the 2009 Denver Creative Festival has been canceled and that The Creative Festival is now closed for business.

Although Creative Festival will not be organizing a Denver show in 2009, an experienced and well-respected show promoter, Rusty Barn Promotion Group, Inc. is planning to hold an event similar to that previously offered by Creative Festival. The Rusty Barn event will be held at the Denver Merchandise Mart on February 5th-7th, 2009. We know you will love this show and encourage you to attend with your friends and family.

Rusty Barn will be sending out an email in the near future to provide details about their event. They will also provide their website address for you to visit.

Again, we thank you on behalf of Kevin for your past support of the Denver Creative Festival.

Remember to Be Creative!

Sincerely,

Estate of Kevin Fristensky"

Has Your Email Address Changed

Please click the link at the bottom of the newsletter that reads Update Profile/Email Address. Then send an email to Toni Fitzwater at toni_fitzwater@msn.com, so she can update the membership roster and website.

Membership Roster

Members may pick-up membership rosters and brochures at any meeting. If you can't make a meeting and need brochures, please contact one of the SRN Board Members for alternate pick up locations. New rosters will be printed for the March, July & November 2008 meetings (subject to change). If you can not attend a meeting and want a roster or brochure, please email Toni at toni_fitzwater@msn.com to request it and she will mail you a copy.

Notice that all Membership Dues are being changed to March 1st each year, beginning in year 2009. How does this work? SRN memberships up for renewal are being prorated through February 2009, when all existing members change over to the same March 1st renewal date.

Have you calculated your savings? The new yearly membership fee of $65/year equates to only ~$5.42/month - what a deal, especially with the monthly meeting fees changing from $5/month down to no cost. Add to that your marketing presence on the website and in the new full color brochure! What a great organization - gotta love it!
