Change of location for October meeting

Next meeting, October 25th, 11AM- 1PM
Location: TACtile, the new Textile Arts Center
7777 E Hampden Ave., Denver, CO 80231,
Tamerac Square Shopping Center
www.tactilearts.org

This is a new non-profit, centralized location for all textile arts activity in and around the Denver area. Diane Denholm of D'Lea's Fabrics fame has leased a huge chunk of retail floor space that will be dedicated to meeting space, workshop space, display space and communing with all types of textile artists. SRN will be a founding member and our first meeting will be October 25th.

Here's how to find it:
Tamerac Square is a shopping center located 2 miles east of I-25 and Hampden Avenue. Take I-25 to Hampden. Turn east at the top of the exit. There are movie marquees on the left that you will see and a Whole Foods on the right (in Tiffany Plaza). Go through the stop light that looks like it turns into the center and turn left immediately or if you have gone too far, turn left on Tamerac Drive and then into the center. You can park anywhere, but if you want to park near the entry to TACtile, drive to the far northwest corner. If you come in by the theaters, walk all the way to the back (north) on the first floor. TACtile has taken over the old Hyde Park floor space.

What to bring:
There are restaurants all around Tamerac from the Old Chicago variety to a Starbucks inside the shopping center. Please bring your own lunch and drink. We will not be serving food, but hope to enjoy dining together as we hold our meetings. (Yes, I will miss the "order up" and "side of mayo" shouts from Perkins, but I will get over it).

What to pay:
The cost of $5.00 per meeting will still apply. This remains constant from our Perkins location and should allow us to break even on the room rental.

What to expect:
Have patience as we will be sorting everything out as well, but table and chairs will be arranged for maximum networking and social engagement. TACtile already has displays of textile artists arranged in the center and Dianne Denholm has some retail fabrics for sale. It has always been my opinion that she is the best buyer of fabrics and notions in this area so any of her picks are a treat to view/buy/review. The floor space was raw when Tracy and I reviewed the location, so whatever has transpired in 2 months will be new to us as well. Plan to be pleased.

Final note:
This year has been a nomadic year for SRN. The first and most urgent request made to me when I took the presidency was to relocate. We tried Perkins. I do appreciate many aspects of Perkins, but the limited size/seating of the rooms does not help us envision maximum instead of minimum attendance at the meetings. Many of our members use SRN only for the incredibly inexpensive marketing and totally miss the valuable aspect of meeting other textile/stitchery businesses. The combining of knowledge and strength of other business owners makes our businesses more valuable, more solid. Imagine the energy and resources as all of the textile related organizations combine to meet in one location. This is Dianne's dream. Let's catch the wave and ride it in.
