Message from the President

Dear SRN members,

Hello friends!

Who can believe, today (Nov. 12) that our October meeting got snowed out!

I'm looking forward to our luncheon on November 19. Our program will be the one carried forward from October (more details below), and again Rosemary Weiler and Judy Farmer will be bringing a bunch of patterns from the "Magic Moments" business which will looking for new homes.

I will bring news from TACtile Textile Arts Center, since tonight is the quarterly meeting of its Advisory Board. The Board is made up of representatives of its member guilds, of which we are one. I will be giving up this function when I stand down as President in March. Gwenith Gernert has offered to take it on; another rep wouldn't hurt, either. The TACtile BOA only meets four times a year, so it is an easy, informative position to take on.

Thank you to those of you who are considering taking on a Board position in March, to fill behind some of our retiring members. Do ask any board member about what is involved in each position. We certainly want to continue the work that we do to promote our businesses through our brochure, website, and other efforts. And, yes, our new brochures will be ready and available at the luncheon.

Bring your lunch or snack, and see you at the November meeting! (And remember, the December 10 meeting will be a potluck and gift exchange!)

Marci Heiser, President

SRN Board of Directors

The SRN year is half over. The current board of directors is looking for members interested in experiencing the boards positions.

The SRN year is Mar 1 - Feb 28.

The board is made up of:

President - leads the meetings, schedules 4 board meetings a year.

Program Chairperson- arranges the program for the meetings, and servers as backup to the President.

Treasurer - collects all money and pays the bills.

Membership Chairperson: Keeps the official member records in Microsoft Access, prepares a roster for distribution twice a year, and sends out renewal notices.

Marketing Chairperson: Organizes the collection of advertising for the brochure from the membership and sponsors. Coordinates with the graphic artist for the production of 2 brochures a year.

Newsletter Editor: Produces a newsletter every month using Constant Contact.

Members at Large: Take on special projects that need to have a single source of coordination.

Consider serving on the board. It is a rewarding experience and a way to help SRN continue to grow.

Board members are given free membership for their term of office.

Donation Requested

Wanted: Donation or modest cost adjustable dress form.

The volunteer who organizes Denver's Brides Against Breast Cancer gown sale needs a form to do repairs to the donated dresses before the next event in 2010. She's beginning the work now since there will be hundreds of dresses donated.

Brides Against Breast Cancer receives donated bridal gowns from shops and gently used gowns from brides. These gowns are sold over a weekend event to multitudes of caring new brides. The events are run by volunteers and all proceeds go to grant wishes for women with terminal breast cancer.

If you can provide a dress form or want to sell one, contact:
